Ultimate protection for travel
Flight Case

As the name implies, the "flight case" is designed to offer maximum mechanical protection for an instrument:

This mandolin case has a shell made of heavy reinforced fiberglass, and has heavy luggage hardware and a rubber weather seal around the opening.



Inside it's custom fitted with lots of resilient padding and plush lining:




Once inside, the instrument is as safe here as anywhere:


Even if you have one of these cases, it still is a good idea to pack the peghead of the instrument, following my
directions, if you're planning to fly with it.

Flight cases may cost as much as five times as much as a standard hardshell case, but they are cheap insurance for the traveling professional.
