Hardshell Case

A hardshell case is typically made of laminated wood with heavy luggage latches and a strong handle:




The lining of the case is padded for protection of the instrument and the exterior has a water resistant covering:




Hardshell cases are standard equipment for professional quality instruments:




There's about an inch of resilient foam padding between the instrument's body and the wall of the case:


Some modern hardshell cases are made of molded plastic and vary in design and strength.
