Grover Vibrator

Yet another accessory for the banjo player, the Grover Vibrator was yet another
attempt (see "head lights")
to overcome the tendency for the banjo's skin head to become too loose in damp
weather. A pair of regular (Grover "Non-Tip," of course) banjo bridges
are loaded against the underside of the head with an adjustable springy strip
of maple. It strikes me that this device is not nearly strong enough to compensate
for much loss of head tension.
The banjo playing world had to wait another 30 years for Remo to come up with
the first Mylar head, called "Weather King."
