Brazilian Rosewood
1973 Gurian "Size 3"

© Frank Ford, 2002; Photos by FF

This auditorium size fingerstyle guitar is typical of the Gurian line, and Brazilian rosewood was still a "reasonable" option. Tastefully appointed and with a body shape reminiscent of a classical guitar, it was one of the best guitar values of its day. Unfortunately, its day came and went with a tragic and catastrophic fire about a half dozen years after this example was made. By the way, Michael Gurian is alive and well, living in Seattle and making purflings and bridge pins for a large segment of the acoustic guitar industry.
