Magic from the Mind of Maccaferri
Selmer "Eddie Freeman" Tenor Guitar

© Frank Ford, 2001; Photos by FF

Designed by Mario Maccaferri and built by Selmer of Paris, this celebrity model tenor guitar is something you don't see every day, although a fair number of them were sold. Eddie Freeman used a special stringing and tuning, for which this particular style guitar is well suited. Take a look at the big black blob on the label. After Maccaferri and Selmer parted company, Selmer simply had an employee black out Maccaferri's name on the label rather than go to the expense of printing new labels. What class!

I couldn't resist adding a photo of these castanets. Maccaferri made his real fortune in molded plastic products, most particularly plastic spring clothes pins.
