Around the turn of the Twentieth Century, Martin made a large number of "bowl" back mandolins. During this period, only a very few other members of the mandolin family bore the Martin trademark. This is one one of those rare instruments, a modest but elegant style "1" with its rosewood ribs and spruce top, mahogany neck and ebony fingerboard.
